Daniel Esguerra is a 5-foot-9, 160-pound running back, cornerback and kicker for Calvin Christian High School, where he played for coach Randy Kreglow. Esguerra earned three varsity letters in football, four in soccer and two in track and field.
The 2017 team captain of the football team wrapped up his prep career with 30 touchdowns and nearly 2,000 yards on the ground. As a kicker, he scored 100 points in PATs and field goals. Esguerra was named to the All-Ocean League First-Team Offense two years in a row and in 2017 was selected as the Ocean League Kicker of the Year.
Off the field, he carried a 4.47 GPA and was named to the San Diego Union-Tribune All-Academic Team for football, soccer and track and field. He is a member of the National Honors Society and a recipient of a variety of awards, including the Harvard Prize Book, the National Hispanic Recognition Award, the University of Rochester Honorary Science Award and the D.A.R. Good Citizen Award.
Esguerra is undecided on which university he will attend, but would like to major in computer science. He enjoys playing the bass in his band, Leptin, and spending time with friends and family. Daniel is the son of Rafael Esguerra and Liliana Hernandez.
